How exciting!

I have some exciting news and I just wanted to share.

Well, let me start by saying I really like tarot cards. I like the artwork, the meanings, and the insight they give you. I know some don't believe in divination, but my view of the tarot is that it is one view of the future which you've already changed just by knowing this possible outcome. (Really, that makes sense in my head!)

Anyway, there is a metaphysical shop in town here where I've been buying some cards. It's a new shop, maybe two months old is all, and owned by a husband/wife team from France. The wife wanted to see a deck I'd purchased, so I brought them in. She wasn't there, so I started chatting with the husband. He asked if I read professionally, which I don't but is something I'd like to start doing. He asked what I'd charge and I said I would read for donations because right now I'm not in a position I need the money from that. The conversation ended with him saying "when you're ready, you can read here. We get 10 or 12 calls a day for a tarot reader."

So, I plan to take him up on that in the next few months. I want to do 20 readings where I don't second-guess myself and I want to find the "perfect deck" to use.

This is something I've thought about for a long time, so I'm very excited that it's coming together the way it is.

Which tarot card are you?

I Am

Which tarot card are you?

Suspended decision. Initiation, divination, prophecy. Turning point in psychic powers. Trust in inner voice.
Suspension, change, reversal, boredom, abandonment, sacrifice, readjustment, improvement, rebirth
He usually represents a time of feeling in limbo, being stuck or being prevented from moving forward. He's usually depicted hanging upside down with his hands tied - that's just what it feels like! We need to remain flexible and willing to let go of things, it's probably a time for sacrifice. Like the man in this card from the Murciano Tarot, don't sweat it, take some time out and be patient.
The Hanged Man - External Meaning: Spiritual awareness and the happiness and assuredness it brings. Sacrificing for a noble purpose. Reveral of one's current way of life. Inner peace. Developed intuition and prophecy. Esoteric Meaning: The spirit of the mighty waters. Reversing false images. Sacrifice. Energys: Water

Rambelings

Two blogs have ended ("Magickal Christianity" and "The rantings of a christian witch") and I wonder what that means. Sometimes I question the path I've chosen, but it feels so right in my heart. Does anyone else feel that way? Is there a "blogger" support group? I'm a member of the Coven of Christ group and that one is SO supportive. Maybe if others found their way there, they'd feel more uplifted.

I'm considering changing the name of this blog. I'm toying with the idea of "Gypsy Wolf" which also encompasess my beliefs. Or am I just blowing in the wind?

Anyone have any thoughts or advice?

Mary Magdeline the Goddess

Mary Magdeline has really gotten a bad rap over the years. She's been labeled everything from a psycho to a woman with a bleeding disorder to a prostitute. The Bible tells us only that Jesus cast out of her seven demons and that she then followed him and helped support his ministry. That wouldn't be an easy life today, and certainly couldn't have been two thousand years ago.

I can relate to Mary Magdeline. Sometimes we are maligned. Sometimes things don't go our way. Sometimes we have demons to face. I believe that by calling on her, she can give us strength to deal with our accusers, patience to see things through to the end, and clarity to look beyond our own demons of abuse or addiction or whatever.

One of her patronages is women. In addition to the list above, any prayer given on behalf of a woman would do well to be addressed to Mary Magdeline. I also believe candle magic would attract her attention, especially if the candle is anointed with myrrh or aloee, two of the herbs used during the days of Jesus for burial. (These would be similar to current embalming, or to various Egyptian herbs used for the pharos.)

Prayer to Mary Magdeline

Mary Magdeline, you have suffered. What today would be thought of as a mental disease was then proof of demons. Yet, Jesus saw something in you. Tradition tells us that it was to you He first appeared after the resurrection (Mark 16:9). I ask that you help me be more understanding of others when they deal with their own demons — and of myself as I deal with mine. Give me the courage to follow my destiny, as you left all you knew to follow yours.
This is my wish. So mote it be.

Mary Magdeline's correspondences

Flower or Herb: Rosemary. It is an herb of focus (http://www.bhia.org/herbal-supplements/brain-and-memory.htm).

Colors: Turquoise. This color symbolizes inner healing and the ability to love not only ourselves, but others.

Animal: Cat. This animal means mystery and independence, according to Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews. In addition, cats are able to see in the dark (http://www.sayahda.com/cyc1.html). How much darker could life be if you were constantly hounded by your own personal demons?

Stone or Gem: Amethyst. According to the Illustrated Book of Crystals, the amethyst calms the mind, enhances spiritual awareness, and relieves pain.

Wolf Totems

This is the totem my sister says I have. Information from www.animaltotem.com.

Wolves are the epitome of stamina, known to run 35 miles a day in pursuit of prey. They are highly misunderstood animals, who have gained the reputation of being cold blooded. In reality wolves are friendly and social creatures. Aggression is something they avoid, preferring rather to growl or create a posture to show dominance.

Even though living in close knit packs provide wolves with a strong sense of family, they are still able to maintain their individuality. Wolves represent the spirit of freedom, but they realize that having individual freedom requires having responsibilities.

Because wolf is a teacher and pathfinder, he comes when we need guidance in our lives. Those who have a Wolf Totem will move on to teach others about sacredness and spirituality. Wolf can also teach how to balance the responsibility of family needs and not to lose one's personal identity.

Wolf teaches us to develop strength and confidence in our decisions. He shows we will learn to trust our insights once we learn how to value our inner voice. This wisdom keeps us from inappropriate action. If wolf appears in your life examine where you need to develop more confidence and if you need more balance between friends, family, and yourself.

Frigg is a Goddess of the home. Her animal is the cat and one of her symbols is the key. I did a "Cat key chain" in a shrinky-dink in her honor. I like this image (which I recreated using Photoshop) because of the multiple cats shown.
